Stump Grinding Townsville
Below-grade stump grinding through the dry-tropics 4810 postcode, mango regrowth, poinciana butt, ironbark heartwood, all chewed out 200–300mm under so the patch is ready to plant or pave.
A stump left behind in a Townsville yard does more than trip people. Mango butts re-shoot every wet season until the new growth is back to fruiting size. Poinciana roots keep lifting the slab even after the stem is gone. Ironbark heartwood is where the next termite colony moves in. Grinding it out closes the loop in a single visit.
Our standard tracked grinder fits through a 900mm side gate, which is what most of the older Hermit Park, Currajong and Mundingburra blocks open up to. For an open block out toward the Belgian Gardens or Pimlico edges we bring the bigger machine and finish faster. Either way the stump is reduced to chips at 200–300mm below grade, deeper if you're planting a new tree into the same spot.
Price moves on stump diameter at ground level, species (hardwood ironbark and bloodwood are slower than mango or frangipani), and how many stumps are on the block. Multiple stumps at one address come down per-unit on the price sheet, most of the cost is mobilising the machine in the first place.

Stump Grinding FAQs
How deep does the grinder go?
Standard is 200–300mm below grade, which is enough to lay turf rolls, paving sand or a footing pad over the top. For a replant tree or anything deeper than a shallow slab, the machine can drop further on request.
What happens to the chips?
Default is to leave them as a mulch pile over the patch, handy in the dry tropics because they hold moisture into the build-up. You can have them spread through the garden beds, raked flat, or trucked out as a line item if you'd rather see clean soil.
Can you grind several stumps in one visit?
Yes, and each extra stump comes down on the per-unit price. The mobilisation, side-gate access and float fee are the bulk of a single grind, so two or three stumps at one address is much cheaper than calling us back twice.
